Presentation at Construction Conference

150 international suppliers learned more about Scandinavian construction investments

For the second time Banedanmark presented upcoming tenders at Building Network Construction Conference. An international audience of 150 suppliers met Scandinavian developers Thursday 15.th. November in central Copenhagen at Hotel Marriott to hear much more about upcoming construction projects in Scandinavia and to consider their future expansion in the region.

Senior Market Consultant, Cathrine Carøe from Strategic Procurement, encouraged suppliers to find planned, upcoming tenders at Banedanmark’s homepage at Tender Plan. And she also encourages interested suppliers to find current tenders at EU-Supply. There are links at our homepage to these sites. After an introduction on how to become a supplier Mrs. Cathrine Carøe presented some interesting upcoming projects that will be tendered out in the future. Besides international contractors and advisors Banedanmark also welcomes a broad range of technical railway suppliers e.g.:

  • Heaters for switches (turnouts); a system that, in a sustainable way, can heat up switches, so rails in the switch don’t freeze during the winter days.
  • Masts of steel or chrome. E.g. Corten masts (Corten masts are coated so they have a rusty-red look).
  • Insulators.
  • Glued insulated rail joints (of e.g. plastic, rubber or something else) for rails to insulate electricity from rail section to rail section.

During the day participants also had time to network and find business partners.

The Nordic developers within infrastructure, high-rise buildings, etc. spoke about their huge projects. Amongst others, Copenhagen Airport will double their capacity, and the Belgian company Besix told about their success in “Besix goes North with its first Project in Denmark”. Finally, Vejdirektoratet spoke about ”Denmark to Invest in Infrastructure and Universities”.
